Starting Somewhere

I've been hit hard by a seasonal cold, so this past week has been a blur of feeling lousy and obsessively building this website. Now that it’s actually functional, I find myself at a loss, trying to shift gears to, you know, actually use it. Or maybe I've just run out of things to say.

Here's what's been happening this week:

Reading: I started The House in the Pines. It hasn’t quite hooked me yet, but I’ve been craving a thriller, so I’m giving it a shot.

Watching: I'm midway through Only Murders in the Building and just starting new seasons of Shrinking and SNL. It took Only Murders a while to get going, but the latest twists suggest some clever storytelling... or it's just going to be silly, which is fine with me. Shrinking and SNL are okay so far, but it's early days.

Family Movie Night: We watched The Super Mario Bros. Movie. It’s not amazing, but it’s fun enough. Jack Black’s love songs for Princess Peach? Absolutely brilliant.

I've also been bombarded with ads for The Fall, now on Mubi. It's being hailed as a cult classic, apparently, which feels strange to me. I remember seeing it back in 2006 and being impressed by the visuals, but I’d never have pegged it as cult-worthy. I might need to revisit it to see if my memory holds up.

More on sharing.
